Leasing After COVID, Part II: Tenant Security

Partners Ann E. Ryan and Adrienne B. Koch are writing a series of articles for the New York Law Journal on how the COVID-19 pandemic impacted commercial leasing in New York.

In their second article (subscription required), they look at how security became even more important during the pandemic when many commercial tenants were unable to pay their rent. Those landlords who were well-secured had a distinct advantage. The pandemic also highlighted vulnerabilities in two of the most popular forms of tenant security: guaranties and cash security deposits. The article looks at what commercial landlords need to know about security and how to ensure they have the right forms in place.
