Our real estate department assists clients in a range of real estate transactions including acquisitions, sales, leasing, financing, development, and joint ventures. We pay particular attention to clients’ business objectives and provide experienced guidance to assure the recognition of their business goals. Clients benefit from our close working relationship with the firm’s tax and litigation departments, both of which have extensive experience in real estate matters.

We have handled a number of major New York area transactions including:

  • The full-block assemblage and development of a Fifth Avenue office building
  • The structuring and negotiation of the joint venture for a multi-use project on the East River in Williamsburg, Brooklyn
  • The lease of a high-profile retail location on Herald Square
  • The acquisition of a development site for 1,100 homes
  • The acquisition and sale of hotels for a Manhattan-based hotel chain

    Nationally, we have represented a developer in the assemblage of five city blocks in Las Vegas for a major multi-use development project, a REIT in its acquisition of shopping centers, a retail manufacturer in the opening of a nationwide chain of stores, and a Fortune 200 corporation in the sale of an office and R&D complex.

    On the financing side, we have worked on numerous securitized financings with loan amounts in excess of $100 million, as well as acquisition, repositioning and construction financings. We have also negotiated long-term ground leases. We represent some of the most active real estate owners and developers in the New York area.
