Biography

Rafael advises ultra-high net worth individuals and families, primarily from Latin America on a wide range of cross-border transactional matters, including U.S. tax planning, pre-immigration strategies, and the structuring of offshore vehicles for tax-efficient asset protection. He assists with U.S. probate proceedings involving cross-border estates, and negotiates corporate governance documents for entities in the U.S. Rafael also handles agreements for the acquisition and sale of private aircraft, and other high-value assets. In addition, he provides guidance on mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings, and general corporate governance. At Katsky Korins, Rafael leverages his international background to deliver tailored advice on complex, multi-jurisdictional issues, often coordinating with local counsel to ensure seamless execution of client strategies.

Prior to joining Katsky Korins, Rafael was an associate in the M&A and Private Client practice at Souto Correa Advogados in Sao Paulo, Brazil. There, he advised Brazilian ultra-high net worth clients on offshore asset protection structures, tax-efficient succession planning, and Brazilian probate procedures. He also structured, drafted, and negotiated complex transactions, including M&A operations, consortium incorporations, management compensation plans, and investment deals.

Originally from Brazil, Rafael is fluent in Portuguese and English, and conversational in Spanish. He leverages his international background to connect with clients on cross-border issues.
